I’m familiar with Brown Knapweed Centaurea jacea from mainland Europe but this is the first GB plant I’ve seen, and a #Norfolk 1st too! Three plants in Breckland this week presumably of long-sown origin. Distinctive brown papery bracts #wildflowerhour

Pleased to sign this letter to the PM calling on him to end sales of horticultural peat - something that should’ve been done decades ago (& that the Tories failed to do):

Has anyone had trouble with Himalayan Blackberry? It's got into a site which was developing nicely into interesting grassland. This plant is the closest thing we have to a Triffid. It grows >6m a year. Cutting it won't get rid of it, but it will stop it from spreading further.

Our teaspoons are doing great at Hickling btw - they've now fledged! 🎉 With a bit of luck, you may be able spot the adult spoonbills and fledgling teaspoons out on Brendan’s Marsh or flying around the reserve 👀 Elizabeth Dack 📸

Technically this may be correct. But pensioners can call 0800 99 1234 and a helpful DWP person will fill it in over the phone. Most questions can be ignored.

When you're out for a weekend walk, and you have to do a double take and make sure you've not disturbed a tree monster having a bath—and they're not very pleased about it...

This brainless scheme would be a catastrophe for the globally important biodiversity and ecosystem services of The Wash. As a result, it would also be the end of the traditional ways of life of the people of The Wash coast. It must be stopped. At all costs it must be stopped.

So impressed with this small hay bailing approach for roadside verges. This helps remove nutrients deposited from vehicles & promotes plant diversity. Never seen it before let’s do it more! National Highways Joshua Styles
