I will be attending Leeds Minster for the Service this Sunday as Chair of the West Yorkshire Safe Roads Steering Group. A sombre day to be sure but very necessary to draw attention to the life changing consequences of inappropriate speed and inappropriate behaviour on our roads.

Every time we drive faster than the speed limit, or too fast for the road conditions, we increase the risk of a crash – and we increase the chance that someone we love will be killed or hurt on a road. We need to talk about SPEED. #BDSafeRoads #RoadSafetyWeek @brakecharity

Such an important front page with such an important message to get across - which comes after a number of road collisions in the Bradford district recently, some of which have sadly been fatal. Thank you to dr ian greenwood for speaking to me and raising awareness.

English councils are setting 20mph limits for most urban/villages because the national 30 limit is no longer considered appropriate. Wales has acted logically by correcting the 30 national limit and changing it to 20mph with LAs able to determine where 30mph is appropriate.

For those naysayers that don’t understand why we need segregated cycle lanes we managed to cycle 7 miles in and across Leeds with our 9 and 12 year olds. A journey we would never have done without CityConnect Connecting Leeds

Government Advisors asking for the report to be permanently shelved. So, findings show that there is more support for LTNs than not. Could have probably done with this information a year ago so funding wasn't incorrectly removed from projects. theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/m…

Once again we see Whitehall imposing their pro car agenda on the DfT all at the expense of Road Safety. It is at odds with the majority of the UK and this coming in at the belief it will win the Middle England vote. I actually feel sorry for my Civil Servant colleagues.

Nearly 3/4 of drivers told the ⁦Edmund King OBE⁩ they think a Graduated Driving Licence, limiting passengers, is a good idea. ⁦Rishi Sunak⁩ and ⁦Mark Harper⁩⁩⁩ don’t agree. ⁦Keir Starmer⁩ ⁦Louise Haigh⁩ won’t comment. thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/art…
