Just back from holiday to this awful news. Spike was a gem. So many people posting about how he supported them, and he was the same for me and my research, explaining the detail of housing legal aid and housing policy, always keen to plot the next campaign, always the first to

suggest we all adjourn to the pub. I last saw him in July at the LALYs, and we were plotting there too, how to persuade the new government to understand the value of legal aid. He really, really cared, and he was really, really brilliant. I'm going to really miss him.

When my kids were little I took them to Clacton with friends and my son punched a boy who called him n****r. I was waiting for the furious dad to confront me but instead the boy returned and apologised. He told his dad what had happened & his dad told him he deserved the punch 🙌🏾
