Just enjoyed cycling 20km on traffic-free routes. Absolutely love that I can now spend a sunny evening like this. This route is possible because: ✅ Several access control barriers have been removed ✅ My ICE Trikes recumbent is built for it. Life changing ♥️

We're always happy to engage in discussions & learn from healthy disagreement. We do not tolerate abusive language or behaviour, including threats & repeated personal insults made to our staff or others. We will warn or block those involved to create space for conversation.

Great article from POLIS with our Campaigns & Policy Lead Ben explaining key elements of #Accessible provision for #Disabled people's cycling - & lots of pics from our free photobank too!

We love facilitating these sessions, which really broaden understanding of different #Disabled people's #Cycling experience & access needs. And as a Disabled People's Organisation, we know it's essential that Disabled people are involved in provision of services at all levels.

A really important discussion on ensuring we define #ActiveTravel in ways that include modes frequently used by & often essential to #Disabled people, by Wheels for Wellbeing trustee Dr Harrie Larrington-Spencer, Dr Harrie Larrington-Spencer :

Great to see Active Travel England's video featuring a tricyclist & some other non-standard cycles. While cycling is rarely cheap for #Disabled people, it definitely offers healthy, fun & independent transport & mobility. #InclusiveCycling #MyCycleMyMobilityAid youtube.com/watch?v=XjLIvl…

Our statement in full solidarity with Black and brown communities in the face of fascist violence. 'It is not enough to condemn ongoing violence if we refuse to look at how we have normalised Islamophobic and racist state policies, discourse and media coverage'

Our Campaigns and Policy Manager Dr Kay Inckle was out in #Liverpool with Terri from RNIB and BBC North West filming some of the access barriers for #Disabled cyclists and pedestrians in the city, including Bold Street, pictured below.

What a gorgeous day to be cycling to work! 🌞😎Looking forward to giving #Keynote NLA's conference on #ActiveTravel this morning 👍. The #BuiltEnvironment industry has a huge part to play in making active travel accessible for #Disabled people. Wheels for Wellbeing

@ Wheels for Wellbeing, we're alarmed abt reports that e-cycles might be banned by NHS, TfL and other organisations. To do so would be a discriminatory response to a low fire risk that will disproportionatly impact #Disabled people. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk/e-cycles-fire-…

@Wheels for Wellbeing , we're worried that this proposal discriminates against #Disabled ppl. Often we need e-assist on cycles we use to get to town centre shops, which often will be too far to walk from the edge of the ban area. #MyCycleMyMobilityAid echo-news.co.uk/news/24456530.…

Latest Streets Ahead pod with Laura Laker is fascinating. Notably Louise Haigh saying “e-scooters are enormously liberating for...people with mobility issues–that’s not been thought through”. As specialists in Active Travel for #Disabled ppl we hope to contribute to the thinking.

Brilliant to hear Kier Starmer saying that transport #accessibility for #Disabled people should be a "basic right". We're keen to work with the new government to improve transport accessibility so all Disabled people can make the journeys we want & need to.

As the Prime Minister has stated, accessible transport is a "basic right". We're pleased to be co-signatories to this letter urging improvements which would hugely improve public transport accessibility for #Disabled people.
