As other outlets have reported, RING/unified HVY champ Oleksandr Usyk was detained at Krakow airport today. Still gathering details on reason. However, Usyk is expected to be released and permitted to travel to London for #JoshuaDubois this weekend.

UPDATE: Oleksandr Usyk has been released after being detained earlier today. In less important news (though the reason for his travel), he will be in London this weekend for #JoshuaDubois.

Not even The Ring Heavyweight champion is given the benefit of the doubt with the law. My latest for Bible of Boxing on Oleksandr Usyk's run-in at an airport in Krakow, where he was detained but eventually released after Ukraine officials—inc. Pres. Zelenskyy—intervened.

I don’t know the history behind this decision but as BWAA VP, I feel compelled to say that I don’t agree with media censorship in any form. Hopefully this can be worked out one way or another.

I will say this: the irony in this “ban” is that once upon a time in my early years as a writer, SecondsOut forbade any negative content or even comments on Frank Warren. Weird how things are now, 20+ years later.
