An extraordinarily powerful piece by BBC News (UK). I too remember the horror when we learned of the Aberfan disaster on this day in 1966.

If I have started to understand the computer science (which I concede is debatable) this is an important point

21st October 1966. 144 people died in Aberfan, including 116 children at the local primary school. I remember the sense of horror at my own primary school. These were children our age, just like us. Nothing in the news had ever hit us like that before.
