It was a pleasure to speak with CNN International this morning about the UK's Rwanda removals policy. We Detention Action continue to call on the government to abandon this cruel, inhumane & unworkable policy, & urgently establish safe routes for people to claim asylum
✊🏽We are standing together against the cruel Rwanda Act.
That is why we & 250 other organisations wrote to the PM about about our shared outrage on this despicable assault on the most marginalised in our society.

If you’re feeling down today about the passing of the Rwanda bill, remember this ⬇️
No flights to Rwanda have taken off yet and we have shown this government our people powered movement is a force to be reckoned with.
Now’s the time to act: secure.freedomfromtorture.org/page/147528/ac…
We are outraged at the passing of the #RwandaBill . Instead of giving vulnerable people the protection they need through a fair asylum process, the government is determined to pursue this cruel policy which will cause untold harm.

Our Director, James Wilson, in the The Independent: Airlines must not profit from the misery and human rights abuses caused by the Rwanda plan. If businesses can ignore human rights and international law when it suits them, it puts us all at risk.

Outsourcing asylum puts lives at risk.
We can and should welcome those who have lost everything and seek safety.

💔It’s a dark day for the UK
To all the men, women and children who came here in search of safety and are now terrified of what the future holds, we are so, so sorry. Please know that we are on your side.
Today and every day #AyeWelcomeRefugees
BREAKING: This Government’s cruel Rwanda bill has just passed.
They say it’s the will of the people, but we know that the majority of the UK believe that people seeking safety should be treated with kindness and compassion.
Today and everyday, we say #RefugeesWelcome .
I have serious #HumanRights concerns about United Kingdom’s #RwandaBill . Its adoption by the UK Parliament raises major issues about the rights of #asylum seekers and the #RuleOfLaw .

Last week AirTanker refused to meet with us when we turned up at their offices.
Today we’re back in their town, to put a message where they can’t miss it.

Yesterday , Allies for Justice 🧡 and @Famil_4Justice enjoyed an insightful workshop all about the human rights and key rights in the UK Human rights Act.
Human rights aren’t just a gift but an entitlement by the mere fact that one is a human being🙏.
