Helped lead a Royal Geographical Society of Queensland trip through South Island this week. Weather turned cold, but the scenery was magnificent. View of Tasman Glacier near Aoraki-Mt Cook.

The seeding fiasco at the World Cup looks like playing out as expected. The first 30+ point winner in the semis confirmed. Expecting something similar tomorrow. Could have been two brilliant semis and a grand show down in the final...

Excited to see our new paper out in Marine Geology 'Drivers of seasonal and decadal change on an estuarine beach in a fetch-limited temperate embayment'. It was great to contribute as part of the team and thanks to Dave Kennedy for leading the work 😀🌊⛰️

This is a brilliant initiative Sarah! Unbelievable that wave data was not available for the Canterbury coast. Great collaboration of University of Canterbury with Environment Canterbury Port of Timaru and others. It is an example of UC science University of Canterburyscience working for the people of Canterbury. University of CanterburyEarthEnv

This is a personal statement only and I claim no special expertise. I call on to let food, water and medicine into . Collective punishment of 2 million is a disastrous response to the atrocities of Hamas. Invading Gaza has a terrible Warsaw Ghetto vibe

Very disappointed to see the rejection of the Aboriginal Voice to Parliament in Australia. We need to recognise our first people in our constitution. If the voice is not the way, we need another way to do so.

Earth had hottest August and September on record. Heatwaves in both N and S hemisphere.
New World Weather Attribution study: climate change made the prolonged extreme (winter!) heat in South America at least 100 times more likely and 1.4-4.3ºC hotter.

Disappointed to see National reject a regional or national approach in favour of a local approach to water. This is not a political statement - just a statement that local hasn't been working and who is going to pay for the massive refurbishment of water infrastructure needed.

Auckland is pouring raw sewage into its harbour. Queenstown is fighting a cryptosporidium outbreak and residents may be boiling water for months. Wellington will have water restrictions this summer because of leaky pipes. Forget local, time for a national approach to water.
