I said goodbye to my 3rd graders for the day a minute before I heard.

This morning, we hosted a guest presenter who told our kids: “A lot of things you see in the world seem bad. The most important thing - hold onto hope. You can change things.”

Thinking about those words now.

After taking care of our salmon for months, we finally released them today. We classified macroinvertebrates from the river, did a nature scavenger hunt, played games & let our salmon go down the ‘salmon slide’ to their new home. It was a lot of students’ first field trip ever!

I’ve spent my whole spring break with covid, and it’s still not really ‘better’ (more like the *most* unpleasant roller coaster ever, and I hate all roller coasters...)

So, you know, if you have any fun mathy things to send my way, please do. I could sure use some distractions!

Friday during choice time: a group of kids asked if they could clean my (very messy) desk. They decided to organize everything & put it in folders with labels. (“No more paper on your desk!” 😳)

They also told me I’m very messy (true 😭). Thank goodness I have them! 😂

Thinking about Graham Fletcher’s Paper Cut task - figuring out which paper is larger - the piece cut out or the piece left over.

My favorite comment as we unpacked what we noticed & wondered?
“Wait! This is about AREA!”
