It’s my fault, honestly. Typically I go with Husky Logo on shorts, Husky Logo on shirt, and Husky Logo on hat. Today I only went double Husky Logo (shirt and shorts) and wore the ol’ Storrs Central hat. First game of the year required the triple Husky Logo. I will do better. 🫡

The #NIL Blitz is back and this week we brought in our first non-Opendorse guest! Thank you to Jared Guy Thomas for hopping on and unpacking what it took to get Storrs Central's logo at the 25-yd line on Rentschler Field. 🎧: opndr.se/msJoedqtC 📰: opndr.se/Z3GDFv3se

Judge Wilken also appears to potentially have an issue with the House settlement terms that attempt to limit and restrict NIL collective deals for athletes.

Mit Winter (@wintersportslaw) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Who is going to tell Judge Wilken that NIL collective deals are the most important part of recruiting right now? And that a federal court enjoined the “NIL recruiting” rules. Seems like she may already know.

Mit Winter (@wintersportslaw) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Judge Wilken currently pointing out how absurd the NCAA booster rules are. And why the House settlement’s attempt to limit and regulate collectives is problematic.

Mit Winter (@wintersportslaw) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The NCAA attorney is mischaracterizing the current NIL rules. Rules prohibiting NIL deals from being inducements are enjoined by a federal court. Don’t think he’s winning any points from the Judge by doing so.

Michael McCann (@mccannsportslaw) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is key: Judge Wilken just said "I think we have problems with this" and tells the NCAA and players' attorneys you need to come up with something better. She does not like the settlement restricting NIL opportunities and thinks it will take away from athletes' opportuities.

Wilken tells the parties to go back to the negotiating table on its rules attempting to regulate collectives. So looks like there will have to be changes to the settlement before any approval. Always believed this part of the settlement would be problematic.

Ross Dellenger (@rossdellenger) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Judge Wilken has basically ordered the plaintiffs (House) and defendants (NCAA/P4) to "go back to the drawing board" on the policy that prohibits boosters compensating athletes through NIL deals unless they can prove that they are genuine. This is a significant issue.

Ross Dellenger (@rossdellenger) 's Twitter Profile Photo

NCAA counsel Rakesh Kilaru to the judge: "Based on your comments, we have to talk about whether we have a deal." NCAA may not support a change - that the judge has ordered - to the booster/third-party NIL policy of the settlement.

Jeffrey Kessler wants Judge Wilken to set a deadline because there's a chance they can't reach a new settlement and the cases go back on the docket. Pretty stunning development. This NCAA settlement that's been talked about like a done deal now has a good chance of collapsing.
