Douglas Murray (in Andrew Neil/@frasernelson's Spectator) on the AFD:

'The public can see that these people often called racists and Nazis are – whatever else .you might think of them – clearly not Nazis or racists'

..it would also mean the decisive abandonment of the (largely delivered) Brexit promise of a 'non-discriminatory' immigration system -it would restore 'European preference' for a very large group.

That supposed “Rothschild” quote, by the way, was famously fabricated a century ago by “Jews control the world” antisemites — something Liz Truss must have known.

“Anti-globalist” beliefs, even from British PMs, always seem to be rooted in the same old “them” theory

As Brexit-watchers like Jonathan Portes and Steve Peers have noted, the EU Commission's proposal today of an extensive UK-EU youth mobility scheme is a significant development.

It was also something Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, led by Anton Spisak, recommended last year.

...this is well beyond simply facilitating 'working holidays' - the duration (4 years) and age group (up to 30) means it would have large and broad labour market impacts - going a long way (albeit not all the way!) to reversing the impact of the end of free movement.

There can be no better illustration of the psychology of these people.

They don't see Palestinians as humans.

They wipe Gaza off the face of the earth, exterminate tens of thousands, many of them kids, and then they speak like this.

This is the mentality of genocide.

Proud of this new edition of Byline Times:

🔴 Investigating the far-right grooming of survivors of child sexual abuse (a national crisis) to further anti-Muslim hate

🔴 The shameful scandal of how people with learning disabilities are treated in Britain in the 21st Century

for context, the Spectator published Taki, a Greek racist who wrote regularly in support of Nazis, for decades until they finally dropped him after he was convicted of attempted rape.

The stuff that The Spectator manages to get away and still remain within the respectable mainstream tells us perhaps more about that respectable mainstream than it does The Spectator

don't really know what more it could possibly take for people to start seeing the Spectator as entirely beyond the pale, it somehow just keeps getting a pass, despite Taki, despite stuff like this

This is pretty big news -EU Commission proposing a very ambitious/extensive 'youth' mobility scheme between UK and EU...

Not my expertise but Julian Jessop (once again) highlights a generic Brexit issue:

a) The UK had lots of pre-existing structural problems pre-Brexit
b) Brexit was supposed to help solve them
c) Instead, it's mostly made them somewhat worse
d) this was predictable (& predicted)

Can't deny I'm curious as to whether anyone at Biteback Publishing will comment on Liz Truss's descent into peddling straightforward antisemitic conspiracism here.

Good to see that this week's Spectator doesn't include the standard racism and other far-right propagandising.....wait, what??

This is completely unacceptable and disgusting.
It makes you wonder who at the The Spectator is responsible for publishing it. Fraser Nelson is that what female academics should expect when one of your team attends her lectures?
