It is a great honour to share this opportunity in memory of my good friend and colleague, Dr Saleemul Huq. Applications are being sought for a new scholarship and award for researchers from developing countries for solutions to loss and damage caused by climate change.

It was a privilege to lead IPCC's scientific briefing for the Latvian parliamentarians, hosted by Uģis Mitrevics, Chair of the Sustainable Development Commission. We had an excellent & insightful discussion on challenges for climate change policies & options for action.

One of the first scientific meetings of IPCC’s seventh cycle has just drawn to a close. Experts from more than 60 countries met this week to draft the outline of the #IPCC Special Report on #ClimateChange & Cities. I thank the Latvian government for hosting us in Riga.

I was thrilled to visit the Working Group II Technical Support Unit based at @Deltares, The Netherlands 🇳🇱. For lunch, I was “going Dutch”, & chipped in with a talk on the IPCC & our future plans, touched on #IPCC Uncertainty Language & the use of scenarios in #IPCC reports.

Looking forward to taking an active role at the UN Climate Change #BonnClimateConference next week. Expert dialogues at these meetings underpin #COP29 negotiations & allow IPCC to share our crucial findings and future plans that support effective #ClimateAction.

It was a pleasure to meet with H.E. Amb. Felix Wertli from Switzerland, which hosts the IPCC Secretariat. We discussed the #IPCC’s work and our plans for its seventh cycle.

At the #JuneClimateMeetings I met with H.E. Ambassador. Nabeel Munir, Chair of the UN Climate Change's Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI). We talked about how these meetings are essential in highlighting specific challenges & what’s needed to overcome them in the lead-up to #COP29.

During #JuneClimateMeetings in Bonn I had the pleasure to meet UNICEF's Deputy Executive Director, Kitty van der Heijden. We spoke about #climatechange & its disproportionate impacts on children, what IPCC will be doing in our seventh cycle & how UNICEF can engage in IPCC’s work.

I had an excellent meeting with Research & Independent NGOs (RINGO) at the #JuneClimateMeetings today. WGI Co-Chair Robert Vautard & WGII Co-Chair Bart van den Hurk joined me to highlight inclusivity, with a specific focus on gender & regional balance in IPCC's seventh cycle.

I had a cordial & productive meeting with Harry Vreuls, Chair of the UN Climate Change’s Subsidiary Body for Scientific & Technological Advice, at the #JuneClimateMeetings. We spoke about plans for IPCC’s seventh cycle, the reports #IPCC will be producing & our continued cooperation.

Met this morning with Austrian Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation & Technology Leonore Gewessler Leonore Gewessler. We had an excellent discussion about the IPCC´s role in informing climate action and our upcoming 61st Plenary Session in Sofia.

I had the privilege of meeting Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen A. Van der Bellen this morning in Vienna. Climate change was at the centre of our discussion, which also covered the IPCC´s plans for the seventh assessment cycle, tipping points, and the IPCC's role.

As IPCC's work in the seventh cycle is gaining momentum, I visited our Working Group I in Paris this week and met the new, growing team critical for producing our reports. We went over our preparations for the Panel’s 61st Plenary meeting in Sofia at the end of this month.

A splendid day out! Back at the houses in Scotland by J. Gilbert Architects on the cover of the 2022 IPCC WGIII report (🔗bit.ly/WGIIIRpt) as examples of climate mitigation architecture. Residents well-aware their homes are on the cover of a global #ClimateReport!

Just before the @ipcc_ch 61st Session opened today, it was great to meet with Bulgarian Minister of Environment & Water, @moewbg, Petar Dimitrov. #IPCC is grateful to Bulgarian gov’t for generously hosting our Plenary Session.

I had the pleasure to open the IPCC 61st Plenary Session in Sofia today. Grateful to World Meteorological Organization President Abdulla Al Mandous, @moewbg Minister Petar Dimitrov, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev & the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nevyana Miteva for joining me in opening the session.

It was a pleasure meeting with President.bg Rumen Radev. I thanked him & the Bulgarian Government for hosting the #IPCC 61st Plenary, taking place in Sofia this week. For IPCC, this is an opportunity to enhance engagement with the scientific community in this region.

Today’s decision by IPCC at its 61st Plenary to agree on the outlines of the Special Report on #ClimateChange & Cities & 2027 Methodology Report on Inventories for Short-lived Climate Forcers is critically important for the next stages in #IPCC work & its policy relevance.
