I am disappointed that the NSF GRFP does not support students in PhD programs who earned masters degrees elsewhere. I suspect that this restriction is especially limiting to BIPOC students and Bridge students.

The Red Menace hit 1:41 at the San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon yesterday, at a 7:43/mile pace. A good effort!

The Rubin Observatory camera has 3.2 billion pixels. The #SphereVegas display has 270M pixels, one tenth that of what will be used for LSST.

Why do 90s-to-now and alternative rock stations *also* play Bob Marley? It's not like they play other 70s music, or other reggae or reggae-infused music.

I mean, I realize that everyone and their roommate owned his Legend album in 1995, but still. It's odd.

Dr./Prof. Renée Hložek I was basically in tears in Craig Hogan (the Chair)’s office as he nicely explained that I now had three jobs (research, teaching, service) and it was impossible to do all of them well at the exact same time, and that was ok.

All of this (though my babies were later). I think one of the hardest things for me was learning to accept that I was just going to suck at some things, some of the time, for a while, and no amount of lost sleep or anxious work was going to change that.
