Kudos to the organizers of the conference for putting together what promises to be a fantastic child care program: neutrino2024.org/childcare-serv…. I hope many participants will use it, and that it will set an example for other scientific meetings.

This morning, I learned the sad news that Boris Kayser has passed away. He was a pioneer of neutrino physics, a cornerstone of US particle physics, a fantastic teacher and mentor, and a wonderful collaborator and friend. Godspeed, Boris! (Image credit: Fermilab)

Q: can you make a detector that's sensitive to single gravitons? how about shot noise in a squeezed GW?
A: yes.

Q: ok, then if you see a signal, would that prove that gravity is quantized?
A: no.

It's that time of year when I receive many emails from students looking for doctoral positions. Just for transparency, here are some for finding a hep-ex doctoral position in Europe, specifically focusing on the LHC

I think it’s super nice to get a personal email explaining why you didn’t make the cut for a position.
I do acknowledge that it’s probably a lot of work for the hiring committee but still it’s super cool to get the feedback.
