WE BELIEVE PARLIAMENT MAY HAVE BEEN MISLED BY THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS OF LONDON. This is a scandal with grave implications for patient safety. bmj.com/content/386/bm…

This has been going on since at least 2023 and only on specific webpages regarding the regulation of associates. I tried archiving a GMC webpage in October 23 and couldn't. I saved it instead, and have gone back to look at the coding that Mike highlighted. Lo and behold:

🧵/ This is, I believe, unprecedented in the history of UK medicine. 28 eminent UK doctors have written publicly to Layla Moran 🔶🕊️, the new chair of Health and Social Care Committee, to report something nothing less than scandalous. Read their letter here (1/n) 👇 bmj.com/content/386/bm…

PAs should not be going no where near a cath lab. This is placing patients in danger and provides no service to patients except feeding the egos of PAs Signed- a professor of interventional cardiology

Jeannie Watkins, one of the key PA leaders, admits to prescribing using her ‘non medical prescribing as a nurse’ whilst she worked as a PA. The FPA guidance clearly said to not Illegal prescribing has been occurring for years yet the system just turns a blind eye. Why?

The eyes are on you Royal College of General Practitioners There is one red line that must be stated with clarity: ***PAs must NOT see undifferentiated patients*** Anything else is a mockery of the 10 year GP training system and an abandonment of patient safety.

The path to becoming a GP is long & complex, minimum of 10yrs It’s complex because seeing undifferentiated patients in the community isn’t straightforward It’s so complex that even Senior hospital Drs aren’t allowed to do a GP clinic Yet some say PAs can do it Royal College of General Practitioners is this safe?

A reminder that one of the biggest proponent of #PhysicianAssociates whether it be on social media or via articles etc is the very same 'Institute of Economic Affairs' I will leave it there. 'Abolish the #NHS'. Wow.

If medically qualified doctors cannot work in primary care without MRCGP, then if RCGP are allowing PAs to work in primary care seeing undifferentiated patients, it's time to reassess the whole logistics of GP exams

Steve Taylor (@drstevetaylor) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Why can’t I see a GP? Blame NHS England for this, having cut GP Practice finding by 20% in the last 8yrs. Instead funded other roles that GPs have no choice but to accept via ARRS (Additional Roles) GPs were excluded The average practice has lost the funding for 2 full time GPs

WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Royal College of General Practitioners's official position is now one of opposition to having Physician Associates working in General Practice. So proud of everyone on #RCGPCouncil who made this happen. rcgp.org.uk/News/physician…

We are giving £30,000 towards the Anaesthetists United GMC legal challenge. It is one of the most important legal battles in UK medical history. Please give generously, and push the Royal Colleges to get off the fence and fight back. dauk.org/news/2024/09/2…

Said aspirational workforce is trying to enter an established space. Nurses control nursing. Nursing associates & HCPs have been allowed with their patronage. Doctors control medicine. Advanced practitioners, PAs and AAs rely on Dr patronage. This *should* be uncontroversial.
