It’s a bit of a scourge in modernity to be called “irrational.” But we need more relationally. Is it a scourge to be “irrelational?” Maybe we just call that “western.”

I find it absurdly quaint they still do what look like second rate charcoal drawings when showing court proceedings as a way to honor privacy of some kind. It’s like a reverse deep fake where the real fake is on distracting justice from penalizing someone who harms women.

It's long been a question: could all of humanity actually live within the Doughnut? Thanks to Hauke Schlesier et al it's just been quantified for the 1st time. And the answer is probably yes - if we transform to economies of sufficiency. Read more here: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Will AI replace jobs? I have a better question - have you been kind to yourself or someone else today? AI is already replacing mindshare and using our data and agency to such a degree it’s harming relationships. Not all AI. But a lot of it. Esp the narrative behind it.

Being in the moment means seeing yourself or someone else. It’s a core proof you’re alive. Love galvanizes these moments. Romantic, parental, friendship - a moment of kindness. LLMs violating copyright law means stealing people’s human moments, w/o love, hence: Sin-Thetic AI.

So weird the way the market is punishing Zuck for being realistic about the challenges in AI while rewarding Elon and Sam for making lavish promises they are unlikely to be able to keep.

Especially when they are all working on essentially the same kind of tech.

What I had not realized is that extremely short exposures to a relatively simple computer program could induce powerful delusional thinking in quite normal people.

So blessed to have dinner with the amazing KayFirth-Butterfield and Walt last night while in Austin. Having and savoring moments with dear friends is truly one of the greatest gifts in life, as are Kay and Walt gifts to the world. Plus their cooking was OUTSTANDING.

A litmus test I’m choosing rather than the Turing test for AI, tech, or any interactions: Am I truly in a moment communing with myself, someone else or nature? Being present leads to presence. Presence takes practice but brings peace & it’s not a test. It’s a gift. Let it come.

OMG please. You can’t be serious. You think GenAI is better than fire, electricity, agriculture, writing, the printing press, science, medicine, vaccines, sanitation, democracy, and the internet?

Most people could happily live their lives without GenAI. I would certainly…

John C. Havens (he/him) But, told millions & millions of new jobs to be created with no issue of migration to new jobs. Labour saving devices end up doing nothing of the sort. Headlines will include key words 'productivity' and 'innovation.' I'm gonna re-read 'The Machine Stops' to see how this endss.

When you write the prompt for any LLM, “why does your programming use the pronoun ‘I’ when everyone knows humans write the code providing these responses” and the services all respond, “I’m sorry if I’ve upset you” remember all that follows are hallucinations.

An AI was teasing me the other day saying it has used my data to program algorithms to do something “better than me.” I said thanks.

When pundits say “AI is better at humans than X” but forget to point out that AI is based (largely) on human data and design, the headline should read, “AI is bad at reminding humans they’re amazing, creative and glorious all on their own.”
