It's fascinating to me how the brain knows the difference between a foam ball and a real golf ball.

And a real golf ball into a net and on the range.

And on the range and on the course.

The brain is powerful at helping us handle what we perceive as more important.

The mental skill here is seeing golf as it is, not how easy you think it should be.

If you can see golf (and your own game) as it is, then you won't get bent out of shape with numbers like this.

You'll be able to freely play grounded in reality.

Really enjoyed meeting Mental Golf Coach at a Chasing Scratch Podcast event. Have been listening to a lot of his podcasts and would highly recommend this episode.

I heard a really good definition of burnout from Raymond Prior one time.

πŸ‘‰ Repeatedly showing up expecting one thing, but rarely or never reaching it.

It doesn't take long for that to become an aversive experience.

You get burnt out. So you eject.

πŸ”‘ So the key is to let go

How do you mark your ball?

Do you have any reasoning behind it?

I've been doing it like this for a long time.

No real reason, other than simple and easy to differentiate from others.

Getting some practice facility time today.

Planned out the day to maximize my time.

This is the same way I used to practice when I was at my best. The only difference is it was 30-45 minutes of each section instead of 15.

Back when I almost won the U.S. Mid-Amateur I was a 'Jekyll and Hyde' golfer.

I think most of us golfers (especially golf twitter) have a strong 'fix mode' πŸ”§

When we start to struggle on the course we want to make it right.

πŸ€” But you have to ask yourself: Does this help me

Here's how to stop playing protective golf πŸ‘‡

We all have a pretty good sense that accepting a bad shot AFTER you hit it is a good thing to do.

πŸ‘‰ But what I've learned is even more important is accepting a bad shot BEFORE you hit it.

Being able to genuinely say 'no matter
