Lawyers who don’t actually face violence but are so disturbed by relatively mild law enforcement action that result in no injuries that they cannot think properly under pressure ever again are not the sorts of lawyers that should do much beyond patent and copyright law.

Again, I have been consistent and the claims of a pro-Hamas or anti-semitic sentiment is so shameful. Peaceful protesters were attacked and the campus stood by. Events elevated because of that. Now, I can't turn back the clock, but the goal is that students don't get hurt.

These were peaceful protests until thugs, claiming to represent pro-Israel sentiment, attacked the pro-Palestinian protests. This is on UCLA and their failure of basic safety precautions. I am solely focused now, then, on these students not getting hurt.

Those of us with more decades and in leadership at colleges, universities and public safety do have the responsibility to try to de-escalate because that is what we are trained to do. It works. We have seen it work. We saw it work. CNN

I have no doubt about outsiders (we see it in the numbers of arrests in some places) but I think us 'old people' -- as I described myself -- can delude ourselves and our responsibilities if we think these protests are just radical outsiders manipulating the young.
