Summer book 20: Ian Eagleton The Boy Who Cried Ghost. Seen a few posts about LGBTQ+ books being taken off library shelves. This should be in every school because it is first and foremost a cracking story with a child’s journey at the centre of it. Schools - make it available!
Second batch of books that somehow fell into my bag on the London trip. Beth🏴 Paul Watson and Simon Smith are all at fault for at least one of these. Completed A M Howell seaworthy trilogy.
The Legend of Light David Litchfield has no doubt created another work of genius. Can’t wait for this!
Final bookshop visit of the holiday. The Rabbit Hole Brigg (lovely to catch up on all things Oasis etc!) for the first batch - excited to see Giraffe Island - a new one on me - and a selection of graphic novels, picture books and chapter books for school. Second pic #charityshophaul
I’ve found A M Howell books a perfect summer read and book 21 of the holiday was #TheRoyalJewelPlot - a cracking mystery. They are Poirot stories for children with their locations, mysterious characters & twists and turns. Will add this to my KS2 office library next week.
Summer book 22. Love discovering a book out of nowhere and become totally immersed in it. Sofia Chanfreau/Amanda Chanfreau have created something special in #GiraffeIsland Gecko Press Simply a story of a girl finding her family. But described in the most unique way. Beautiful.
First visit to The Blue House Bookshop, York in York today. Exceptional quality of picture books, graphic novels and chapter books. Picked up these including Alastair Chisholm Sharna Jackson has gone to Threads 👋🏾 Have the original Ark Folman Anne Frank GN so intrigued by Where is…
First job (after SG training, etc) was to restock my office reading library for the children to borrow from. Felt great adding books by Ross Montgomery A M Howell Lesley Parr (is not here at the mo) Ian Eagleton Guy Bass Tom Percival Tom Palmer Joe Todd-Stanton Kieran Larwood
Are you free on the 21st/22nd September and Normanby Hall is within travelling distance? Look at what The Rabbit Hole Brigg have created! So many incredible authors and illustrators - take a look at the video! My school will be there and I can’t wait! #NoLimits
This has made me even more excited to see peter brown! The Wild Robot on the big screen.
Day of contrasting emotions. Fantastic to see Writer in Residence Beth Walker on her first visit this year but extremely sad that it was the final day for Donna Wright - she’s retired as a TA after being an absolute legend BcL2U Support staff are vital & hard to replace.
