One unusual request of everyone for the weekend. I was over in Ireland for Kilkenomics and on the last evening I sat in a pub and heard Lucy McWilliams sing her songs and play piano. I was completely blown away.
I know Kilkenomics was ten days ago, but it was my first time partaking, and I only just managed to get my hands on this snap of myself ๐ฝ๐ค๐๐๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ฎ ๐บ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ช, Des Traynor, Alice Sherwood and Kevin Gildea discussing AI, and we all look fantastic, so I'm going wild and posting it ๐บ๐ป
Another Kilkenomics down. Much to reflect on. But civilised conversation, friendship and pints make a full life. David McWilliams
Noah Smith ๐๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ฆ it was great to have you Kilkenomics - wonderful piece below. Delighted you enjoyed Ireland... because Ireland enjoyed you!!
Thanks for having me Kilkenomics and David McWilliams! And Kevin Gildea for some excellent moderating during 'Artificial Intelligence and Trust: How Do We Get There?'. So many great speakers, but Leah Downey during 'Trump Part 2: The Nightmare', was a standout for me ๐๐ป
I went to Ireland this week for an econ/comedy festival (Kilkenomics), and it was rich and beautiful and everyone was really cool.
So here are some thoughts about Ireland's economy.

At Kilkenomics comedian Barry Murphy asked me, Sony Kapoor & Sarah Cullen what do we tell #climate change deniers. The climate problem is more widely recognised today than only a few years ago, but I believe the bigger problem is whether people care enough to act. Thinking ofโฆ

I had a lot of fun discussing women in econ (among other topics) at #kilkenomics this weekend. Econ and comedy, what could be a better combination?! Thanks David McWilliams Kilkenomics for the invite and Nora Strecker for the moral support!
