A visual and historical reference to George Stephenson's locomotion No1 (located in a car park in Stockton-on-Tees), a fine graphic reminder in the context of the famous Darlington to Stockton run on the 27th of September 1825, and other niceties of Stockton.

The splendiferous Whitley Bay, a promenade of lines, curves, shadows, structures, and a gorgeous seascape, and in the far distance I spied the wrapped St. Mary's lighthouse in a white protective layer re: project restoration almost out at sea.

Arnside Viaduct is a product of classic clean elements of splendid railway engineering, designed to carry trains heading to Carnforth and Whitehaven over the River Kent. Originally constructed in 1856 as a single-line viaduct, the structure was extended to twin-track in 1863.

A favourite of mine is Saltburn-by-the-Sea hosting a 208 m (681 ft) long pier, designed by John Anderson, opened 1869, and complimented by the oldest fenicular railway in the Uk still in operation. #Victorian #engineering & #structures.

Rendezvous at Ripon Cathedral - our meet up at the entrance of the grand church was a welcome change, whilst sheltering from the wet gloomy weather of North-West Yorkshire yesterday (Saturday). It was my first entry to the grand church, and what an incredible interior…

The Cabmen's Shelter Fund was established in 1875 after a rallying cry from George Armstrong to MPs, philanthropists, and the influential Earl of Shaftesbury. 61 green wooden huts were built from 1875–1914 to provide shelter, sustenance, and warmth during inclement weather.

These original quirky but cute sheds was based on the designs of architect Maximilian Clarke (1834 - 1914), I wonder if Clarke had taken inspiration from the Arts and crafts movement? Second photo was taken of a hut discovered on recent visit to Ripon, North Yorkshire.

Whilst transparency in politics is essential, the media are quick to challenge donations to labour for clothing etc. Let us not be sidelined by this as the Tories potentially bled billions of pounds out of this country, as well as accepting huge donations from racists. #bbclaurak

Those harping on about conflicts of interest will be gutted when they find out that millions of public money went to Sunak’s father in laws business, Infosys, and his wife registered as a non dom to avoid tax on her profits. PS: Infosys still traded in Russia despite sanctions.

It’s time to end the snobbery on skills. If we’re to deliver national renewal - a growing economy, clean energy, more houses, strong infrastructure, an NHS back on its feet - then we need a skilled workforce. express.co.uk/news/politics/…

So proud to watch my friend, Rachel Reeves, deliver her to speech to Conference as the first woman to be Chancellor. Our children could have no stronger advocate in 11 Downing St. With her in the Treasury, we will fix the foundations, deliver change and rebuild Britain.
