Shout out to the never ending support of the Exmouth Research Lab team for brain-storming, trouble-shooting, fixing behind the scenes to make the science 🧪 happen!
It was wonderful to meet the Minderoo Foundation team and learn about their work — thank you for having us!
🪼 Minderoo Foundation’s Exmouth Research Lab brings together scientists from Australia, the U.S., and worldwide to improve reef health.
They're identifying heat-resistant coral, tracking water temperatures, monitoring species, working with Mars, Incorporated on reef restoration, and much more.

And Dr. Kate Quigley just reminded us of the Charney 1979 report '2°C and 4°C - was the difference between damaged coral reefs and no reefs whatsoever, between forests, and forests enveloped by desert...” we’ve known these limits for >40yrs! #ClimateActionNow Every 0.1°C matters!
The first of our Public Lectures for 2024, Prof Malcolm McCulloch has just launched into his presentation; The hottest year on record: evidence that human-induced global warming now exceeds 1.5 C

If y’all have some time next Tuesday come join us in highlighting the perspectives of indigenous and local coral reef scientists 🪸🤗🐠.

Terrifying graph showing how warm the oceans have been this year, compared to what we’re used to (grey lines). No wonder we’re seeing corals overheating, bleaching and dying right around the planet, from the Caribbean to the Maldives to Australia. #ClimateCrisis
My research team are on 'One Tree Island' - in the #GreatBarrierReef trying to better understand the impact of the current mass #bleaching event on the corals, the fish, the invertebrates, the microbes and neighbouring soft-sedimentary habitats.
It's grim.
