Can't decide if I'm more excited to have found hay rattle and great burnet in our meadows, or by the fact that house martins are nest building on our new home.

Best thing about the drive to the dump? The masses of Herb Paris, Paris quadrifolia, growing in the verge. A woodland flower that puts all its sexy bits on display.

Pyramidal Bugle season is in full swing on Rathlin, and this week we've found some absolute whoppers! We don't normally see them much above 6cm in height, but the biggest spike in this exceptionally vigorous clump is a stonking 6 and a bit inches 💪😲

Pied Flycatchers have returned to Wild Haweswater!

After welcoming guests to the Woodland Wildlife Hide this morning, our Wild Hides Guide Matthew spotted the first male Pied Flycatchers of the year back from the rainforests of West Africa 🧵1/2

What’s missing from this pic?
(Apart from the team members who weren’t in that day).

No Site Manager! 😭

If you think you could lead this dedicated, passionate and slightly bananas bunch, you’ve got until next Sunday (21 April) to apply.

Good to catch me and my Wild Haweswater pals clogging up the BBC Radio 4 airwaves this morning. A whole twenty minutes of farming and conservation goodness, thanks to the ever-brilliant Cazgraham. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

Spent a good chunk of my final couple of weeks working for RSPB at Wild Haweswater building this hide, alongside some other folks much more skilled than me. Very pleased with how it turned out, and can't wait to go and give it a try.

I wonder if the person that invented textured wallpaper knows just how much pain they've caused over the course of centuries.

My first day as an RSPB alumnus today. Walking under the moonlight after a lovely leaving do at the Mardale Inn last night, though sad, I felt so lucky for 11 years of incredible experiences, working alongside the most brilliant colleagues in my favourite place on earth 🙏💚🙏
