1/ 🧵Well, it took me awhile to organize all this research info. So many rabbit holes. I finally decided the best way forward was to divide into parts. So the following is Part 1 summary of BC's vast research funding sources/initiatives. Hold on to your hats, it's a ride! #bcpoli

Jordan Roberts @TiBachlor Steve In BC, some of that money goes into BC CDC research. What sort of research has the BC CDC been doing during the pandemic? It produces iffy papers that provide validation of BC's Covid policy decisions. David Fisman called it Decision Based Evidence Making. x.com/littleann4ever…

To Doctors of BC: In partnership w/the gov’t thru your Shared Care Committee, you funded a virtual learning series called BC ECHO. Its sole purpose? To “give HC providers help & support needed to care for patients experiencing symptoms after C19 infection.” What happened? 🧵1/

One of the main reasons I advocate for masks in healthcare is because when they’re mandated everyone is safer AND it’s equitable. No one is judged for masking. Patients aren’t risking being psychologized or labelled anxious for trying to protect their health and baseline. /1 🧵

With BC's C19 PHE over, I'm thinking about: "Division 3 - When Authority to Act under this Part Ends ... Public health officials must also meet any requirements of the Act that they omitted during the emergency" 🤔 Is there anything BC Public Health now has to go back and meet?

This post was less than a month ago. Anyone heard if things are 'normal' for athletes? 🙃 Apparently we're 'post-pandemic' but nobody told Covid. I wonder what the tally of affected athletes will be by the end of the event and how that will affect their careers thereafter.

"Team Canada’s chief medical officer Mike Wilkinson, said his team “continued to implement many of the infection prevention protocols that proved successful during the Covid pandemic including hand washing, sanitisation and good hygiene practices”. 🙄 🤬 globalnews.ca/news/10652170/…

I'm stumped. Let me 🤔. Here is my simplistic summary 🧵. (Keep in mind - I’m a surgeon - I think in very simple terms.) 1. 2019/2020 New disease appears 2. We soon learn #1 can cause long-term damage to the immune system 3. We ignore #2 4. We provide zero education 🧵1/3

1/ Squeee! Progress Health Canada and PHAC. In light of growing H5N1 risk, I took a look at Canada's Pandemic Flu Plan. It was outdated 😬. So, I sent an email to find out if it was being updated, especially wrt aerosol and asymptomatic transmission:

I wish there were mask mandates in hospitals because it seems far too many doctors & nurses are too big-headed to even glimpse at Covid & long Covid information. Everyone needing healthcare is forced to decide: Do they want Covid or their current issue taken care of? Healthcare?
