If you install Google Authenticator from the app store and follow the suggested instructions, your 2FA codes are by default saved to the cloud. I recommend not linking the Authenticator to your Google account, in which case you should see this 'no cloud' icon in the upper right.

By that logic, if you don't take custody of your bitcoin, you should only value it at 10% the market rate.

As the State continues to realize that the citizenry is slipping through its grip by using freedom enhancing technology, it will demand KYC on everything and will threaten any toolmaker who doesn't comply.

The State can stop activists and dissidents. It can't stop information.

The problem is that I'm old enough to remember the days when the government didn't violate citizens' rights quite as often and egregiously.

The trend isn't our friend. Every decade we allow to pass in this manner means more of the populace will consider the status quo as normal.

One reason that limited blocks are important is because at some point it may become difficult to get them. We take it for granted we can run a p2p Bitcoin node and validate our funds. At some point they may target peering nodes and it might get a bunch harder to find an open slot

If the government gets to pick whatever definition is most convenient then it's only fair that we do the same.
