Please kindly remind all CIHR grant reviewers CIHR, it is suitable and reasonable for PIs to budget $45,000/year for a PhD student and $70,000/year for a postdoc. Otherwise, this will benefit to only a tiny proportion of students and makes unfair to majority others.

Here here! While long overdue, this support to the future generation of researchers is great news overall for attracting talent, will hopefully help to keep them in research and overall supports the future of Canada’s research ecosystem!

Excellent news for our graduate students with fellowships. Hopefully for all others funding will increase as well. The researchers who can offer these $ as stipends are very few. A PhD fellowship is now more than the average NSERC DG!

Today, I was pleased to join members of Support Our Science, a grassroots organization advocating for improved pay for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in Canada. This includes all researchers, from science and engineering to social sciences and humanities. I attended

Always a pleasure and an honour to help this group fight for the cause of research and researchers in Canada. We need the government to step up to ensure graduate students aren't forced to live in poverty since funding has remained stagnant for over 20 years. 20 years!
