Really feel quite sickened. We use the phrase 'performative cruelty' quite a lot. The thing is, it feels awful to watch acts of cruelty. But to see people behave cruelly specifically because they think it'll make them more popular is so much worse.

It is chilling how far the PA experiment to replace Drs has progressed under radar. Without social media, I doubt it would have become apparent, or certainly not before it was too late. As it is, we have a chance to salvage medicine, but there is a huge amount of damage to undo

Academic publishing is a great commercial model. Get academics to write articles for your journal for free, have them peer-reviewed free of charge by other academics & then charge people to read the articles. It’s clear why many academic publishers have such large profit margins.
