Day 7
In the last Ice age (c19,000 years ago) Cambs had Reindeer, Woolly Rhino, Woolly mammoths and Bison hunted by lions and hyenas. Their remains are on display in the Sedgewick Museum, Cambridge

In the Eemian Period (c125,000 yrs ago) Hippos, Rhinos, Elephants, Aurochs, Lions and Hyenas roamed round Cambs, their remains are on display in the Sedgewick Museum, Cambridge

Beaver, Boar and Wolf
Did you know that Beavers, Boar and Wolves were once present in Cambridgeshire, but they became extinct in the area in the 1300 to 1400s
They have not been reintroduced Cambs as yet
This skeleton was found in Burwell in 1902

Red Squirrel
Once widespread they are now extinct in Cambs, the last record was in 1973
The nearest population is on Mersea Island, Essex where they have ben reintroduced, I took these photos there recently
