Alberta child-care centres say they were coerced into joining the $10-a-day daycare program. Tactics included tying existing subsidies to program participation and inadequate time for contract review.

An incredibly important story by Hadassah Alencar

More horrible news. A stringer for Reuters in Moscow has been arrested (for some alleged other/prior work) according to the court.

Konstantin Gabov, a journalist and video producer, will now face trial and jail in Russia. Local staff always at highest risk

Peaceful protests don’t include calls for support of Hamas. Peaceful protests don’t include calls for a repeat of the Oct 7 massacre. Peaceful protests don’t include calls for Jews to go back to Poland. Peaceful protests don’t include calls for Israel to be wiped off the map.

The bill would name the street in front of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) Washington DC “Jimmy Lai Way” and designate the current address of the facility as “1 Jimmy Lai Way Northwest.”

About $5 million per job. Note: these are not jobs created, but jobs *transferred* from other firms and industries (see: opportunity costs). So we’re paying $5 million per just to shift jobs from one sector to another.

GDP per capita is now 7% LOWER than it should be, meaning Canadians are poorer by $4,200 per person.

But don't worry — Trudeau says the economy isn't about numbers.

Remember that next time you see the skyrocketing prices at the grocery till or gas pump.

Why are union members leaving the NDP in droves and turning to Poilievre and the Conservatives? Asinine hateful gimmicks like this from CUPE National and CUPE Ontario are why.

Oh my God, Pt. II.

I could write a whole other column about this. But I won't. I'll just say this.

1. Saying we'll just bring in more foreign doctors if tax changes drive out ones we already have is not a good answer on its own merits. You're admitting it's a problem.

How's this for a letter to the editor in The Globe and Mail this morning: 'I was astounded to learn that, according to Chrystia Freeland, I am now considered one of Canada’s wealthiest 40,000 citizens.'

“We are making life cost less,” Chrystia Freeland said in her budget speech

She must've misspoken: the expense table in the budget shows expenses going up to $537.6B this year from $505.1B last year. A $32.5B cost increase is not 'making life cost less'
