Earlier today, Russia launched missiles and drones against Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure. I condemn – in the strongest possible terms – Russia’s continued war against Ukraine and its efforts to plunge the Ukrainian people into darkness.

The United States will continue to lead a coalition of countries in support of Ukraine and is surging energy equipment to Ukraine to repair its systems and energy grid. Let me be clear: Russia will never succeed, and the spirit of the Ukrainian people will never be broken.

Hello from California! I’m here to meet with diaspora groups from the Europe and Eurasia region, advancing one of USAID’s priorities to build partnerships with diaspora communities. Excited to highlight USAID’s work and identify our shared development goals.

Started my engagements in San Francisco to meet with Albanian, Kosovan, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Armenian diaspora members who work in the tech and ICT industries and discuss USAID’s work in technology and cybersecurity throughout the region. Thanks for hosting Plug and Play Tech Center!

I met with members of the Albanian and Kosovan diaspora about their role in the development of their homeland. USAID continues to build partnerships with diaspora communities.

Glad to continue building on USAID’s partnership with novaukraine. USAID Europe/Eurasia remains committed to helping Ukraine persevere through Russian aggression and support early recovery.

Wrapped up a great day in San Francisco meeting with members of the Belarusian diaspora, where I reiterated USAID’s continued commitment to stand with the brave people of Belarus on their path to an independent, democratic, and sovereign Belarus.

Started my day in Fresno at a diaspora-owned restaurant for a delicious lunch w/ Berj Apkarian, Honorary Consul of Armenia in Fresno, & leaders of the Armenian-American diaspora, where we discussed our support for Armenia’s sovereign, democratic future.

Great to engage and learn more about the Armenian Studies Program at Fresno State! Wonderful to hear from students and speak about USAID’s work in Armenia. Thank you to Professor Barlow DerMugrdechian for organizing this engagement.

Ended the day meeting with Nisei Farmers League, Fresno Farm Bureau and other farming community representatives to share how USAID's agricultural initiatives in Europe & Eurasia benefit both U.S. and overseas farmers and the critical role of the region in the global food supply.

In Los Angeles, I met with representatives from Armenian diaspora organizations to discuss USAID’s support for Armenia’s democratic transition and inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the country.
