Dear councils, Here is an easy way to help restore 30% of nature by 2030. Small verges like this can be lifelines for pollinating insects if you reduce mowing and don't spray with weedkillers. You'll be saving bees and butterflies by saving time & money 🐝

Today's the Inglorious Twelfth. The day bloodsport enthusiasts begin shooting Red Grouse for fun. It's not a thing here in #Shetland. We have no managed grouse moors. Our hills abound with life. You'll be told managed grouse moors are better for wildlife. It's not true.

I just can't emphasise enough the value of wetlands. Not only do they purify and store water but they are amazing habitats and capture huge amounts of carbon.

🚨BREAKING: The number of British households installing solar panels and heat pumps is at a RECORD HIGH in the first half of this year! Good, but still not fast enough. The government MUST mandate solar panels on all new builds and commit billions more to heat pump installations

𝐇𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐲!🎊 In early 2023, we created a network of #wetlands in what were once arable fields. We knew #natterjack toads, one of our rarest & loudest amphibians, were nearby, but thought it unlikely they'd make it to the site. Lo and behold... baby natterjacks have arrived!

Almost 9,000 solar panels are being installed at a Portsmouth business park! ☀️ Rooftops and car parks are massively untapped resources and are ideal sites for solar panels. It's great to see Portsmouth City Council working towards a greener future 💚 bbc.com/news/uk-englan…

The UK has dug up many of its orchards and now imports 70% of its apples, often from across the world. Planting apple trees in our gardens and communities - and protecting those we have - can cut food miles, soak up CO2, help wildlife, and can help save traditional varieties🍎
