A compassionate provocation to have more conversations about what activism is and means, what it costs the activists and how it challenges society for the better.

We need to consider what might be lost in rush to shutdown protests.
For democracy, the right to protest isn’t merely a virtuous talking point for politicians. It is as essential as the vote if we are to hold power to account

Normalizing dishonest MAGA enablers who know better is one of many reasons our democracy is under threat by Trumpism today.

It’s shameful.

It’s no wonder why so many Americans hate politics.

Where’s the integrity?

The NYT believes that if the election were between Mister Rogers and Adolf Hitler, that because a percentage of people would actively choose Adolf Hitler, that their job is to provide equally hard-hitting coverage of both Rogers and Hitler.

Calling all normalizers of extremism and insitutionalized lying and election denial and dictators for a day and coups...it's all just politics as usual I guess...

There are people I expect to whitewash the bad deeds of Trump’s worst enablers, launder the reputation of awful people, or treat attempts to kill American democracy like an exciting spectator sport. I did not expect it from David Plouffe

What would proportional representation mean for governance in America? oscar pocasangre and John Carey have answers.

(TLDR: it would be a big improvement!)

Seems to me Plouffe is legitimizing and enabling a supporter of a coup-plotter who incited violence to overthrow American democracy. Not a good look.

I criticize Mayor Bowser a lot but on gun violence by far the biggest bottleneck is the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).

DC is fighting gun violence with one hand tied behind our back because the USAO declined, dropped or pled down 2,262 gun cases over the last 2 years.

Thank you The Guardian for great review of Minority Rule: 'a rich history of America’s ambivalent attitude toward majority rule. A number of states formally *prohibit* the counting of any votes until after polls close on Election Day.

And a bunch of those laws were enacted by Republican-controlled state legislatures.
