This logic is so pervasive even in the ways liberal migrant rights NGOs justify the existence of immigrants and refugees in N. America by citing their economic contribution to society.

I cringe when I hear people justify refugee resettlement on the basis that refugees are a good source of cheap labor. It’s dehumanizing. People fleeing for their lives should not have to earn safety through the exploitation of their labor. What about the refugees who can’t work?
