Scientists at CRUK Scotland Inst have found that certain mutations in cancer cells make them much more likely to respond to immunotherapy treatment.
With our funding, they're now working on a plan to mimic these changes and make immunotherapy effective against more cancers 👇
Just following up on our recent paper describing the role of recurrent mtDNA mutation in cancer - here are a couple of pieces, from Science and Innovation at Cancer Research UK and Nature Cancer, for the non-expert audience:

Using experimental approaches in a study supported by our division, Mahnoor M, Ed Reznik, Payam A. Gammage, et al. found that mitochondrial DNA mutations promote a cellular metabolic shift to enhance #immunotherapy in #melanoma Nature Cancer nature.com/articles/s4301….
.University of Glasgow scientists at the @CRUK_SIb have made an unusual discovery that could help to identify patients who are up to two and a half times more likely to respond to currently available cancer drugs 🔬🧬
