Breaking: A future Coalition government would seek to build nuclear power plants in Gippsland in Victoria, Gladstone in Queensland, Port Augusta in South Australia, Collie in Western Australia and the Hunter in NSW.   Seven reactors would be built in total. ABC News

Foreign Minister Senator Penny Wong on News Breakfast responding to the Coalition’s nuclear plan: ‘It's a risky and expensive gamble that won't work. I mean that's the reality. I mean this is decades of subsidy from Australians…. they are so allergic to renewables.’ ABC News

Independent MP for Calare, Andrew Gee, who represents NSW communities nominated to host a nuclear reactor says there has been no consultation about the move: ‘I think the overwhelming emotion yesterday was one of shock because this was basically dropped on the community’
