Per Christopher Newport University there were actually no student arrests, though apparently there were threats of arrests.

Listening to my tape, after VCU police arrived on the scene, they warned protestors they would arrest them for trespassing, waited three minutes, made another warning, and then moved in. All in all it took about 12 minutes between police's arrival and their use of force.

I just spoke with a student who said arrests are now happening at Christopher Newport University with students trying to enter a closed campus. Follow VPM for updates as we learn more.

Protestor organizers are telling people to leave. Some groans but seems like most people are leaving.

There’s basically a standoff happening right now. Students are chanting “RPD KKK IDF they’re all the same”. Earlier “if you leave we will leave”

VCU police bringing detained protestors, dripping in their own snot from gas or spray into student center. I tried to check out the field and an RPD officer pointed pepper spray or something similar at me after ID’d as press

Arrests being made with force. These students weren’t doing anything violent. One says “we’re just kids”

State police are here too. Students chanting “who do you serve?”
