The #NCFarmBureau NC Farm Bureau YF&R State Committee spent the weekend touring farms in Iredell County. They visited Origin Foods, Stoney Point Nursery & Farm, Daddy Pete's Farms, Grayhouse Farms and Westward Farms to see a diversity of farms and practices.

After a meeting, Wilson area farmers took Dept. of Agriculture Under Secretary Robert Bonnie and Bob Etheridge and Kevin Wooten of Farm Service Agency out to see crop damage and damage from recent tornadoes. Bonnie will hold a press conference after the tour. #NCFarmBureau

At today’s news conference, NC Farm Service Agency administrator Bob Etheridge announced he had requested disaster declarations for 50 counties due to drought and 60 due to TS Debby. Last week, Risk Management Agency approved almost $100M for 37 counties due to wind damage. #NCFarmBureau

Pender Sharp hosted the news conference at his farm, and gave his perspective on this difficult year, which could cost him about half his income. He’s pleading for help. “If they do nothing, a lot of people go out of business. We just keep taking hit after hit.” #NCFarmBureau
