Our breeding bird survey is a great excuse to enjoy the quieter corners of #Mourne. Take a moment to pause and enjoy the #Skylarks and #MeadowPipits when you’re next in the hills. … and we’d love to hear from you if you’d like to help with our next survey!#Volunteer

IPCC are taking part in #BackyardBioblitz for National Biodiversity Week. In the peat free wildlife gardens at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre IPCC have a raised bed for the common nettle! You might find it unusual but nettles are an important food plant for butterflies.

🌍On #WorldPeatlandsDay, we celebrate peatlands' role in fighting climate change! 🌿💪 They store carbon, support wildlife, control floods, and preserve history. Thanks to your support, we're working to restore 16 hectares of degraded peatland in the Mourne Mountains! 🙌💚

2024 is a leap year and the frogs would agree! Common frog (Rana temporaria) is the species of the month. Our species at risk are very important to record, but there are not enough recordings on possibly our most recognisable amphibian, the common frog species 🐸

Due to swooping buzzards near Fofanny Dam Reservoir, Drenevere Path, and Donard Forest, we advise avoiding these areas. Buzzards are currently nesting and may perceive humans as threats. We recommend steering clear of these locations until nesting season concludes.
