Coaches will read this and and STILL force their kids to do too-heavy starfish reverse curls

For what reason?

Because their ego won’t allow them to take a hard look at what they do

Talk about a lack of mental toughness…

Rule #1: Do No Harm

“What percentage goes with what sets and reps?”

Follow these guidelines:

Strength: 65-85% for 3-5 sets of 3-8 reps

Size: 50-70% for 3-5 sets of 8-12 reps

Power: 3-5 sets of 1-5 reps at 40-60%

Make that $$ work!

These $5 furniture sliders might have been my most-used piece of equipment

Had a box full of these

They worked great on our commercial
Gym flooring that was slick as ice

Lemons out of lemonade 😂

Every “football specific” agility drill I’ve seen look a lot the Indy drills they do all fall

Because they are

Consult with your position coaches to design the drill

Then prescribe your volume and rest intervals and progress it over time

There’s your “sport specific”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again

Olympic lifts are a subpar option for any training effect used to justify them

And that’s best case scenario assuming technique isn’t an issue (it is for most)

There’s always better option

“Athletes don’t like to Back Squat”

This is utterly false

I tested it

I took them out for some teams and made the Trap Bar my main bilateral lift

Several complained and wanted Back Squats back in

They do value the stimulus, even if it s harder

Lesson learned
