I spent yesterday searching an area of ancient woodland near Henley, and was rewarded with finding one of our rarest and most spectacular Craneflies, Ctenophora flaveolata. Without doubt the highlight of my year so far. Dipterists Forum

In #Lyevalley #fen we find to our delight our first Early Marsh Orchid Dactylorhiza incarnata is in flower! A dark pink version with typical unspotted leaves. A big reward for all that #scything & raking. Wonder how many more to come. Will we beat last year's total of 50 flowers?
