Clam chowder lost in the fridge. "Use By 03/28/23" but sealed, unopened. Most people would throw it in the trash. I'm having it for lunch now and it tastes great, 21 DAYS AFTER the 'USE BY' date. Maybe if it said "BEST IF USED BY" more people wouldn't throw it out?

School meals as a primary focus of global food system transformation? $48 billion business globally - 98% managed through government funding. It’s our chance to create a food system that is circular, regenerative and in balance with the planet. #raisetheambition

While the issue of “food systems” may be highly political, I would challenge that the issue of WASTE reduction is an anchor the world can rally behind. Let’s start with WASTE reduction where we can get agreement and alignment. #RaiseTheAmbition

Over 1/3 of the world’s food is lost or wasted each year. To reduce this number, USAID announced a $10 million investment to launch the Food Loss & Waste Accelerator, which will help ensure more food makes it off the farm & into homes that need it most. usaid.gov/news-informati…

Last week, U.S. EPA released 2 new reports and the findings make it crystal clear: there are massive climate benefits to reducing food waste. NRDC 🌎🏡 and the Zero Food Waste Coalition applaud EPA for these helpful analyses 👏👏👏 epa.gov/land-research/…

Amazing story of a large apple rescue in West Virginia. youtube.com/watch?v=Y9oIGE… My question: why don't farmers have protection against buyers who drop contracts? Farm buyers need to show more responsible practices to curb food waste, else we need laws to protect farmers.

What is different about the US Food Waste Pact? MEASUREMENT and TRANSPARENCY. Public and private sectors MUST be sharing data if we have any hope of eliminating waste. Measure what we manage.

Important things happening in NYC. Public funding is critical for changing the paradigm of waste. What happens when funding is cut or non-existent? We must explore new models and Mill is doing that. Keep a close eye on NYC. mill.com/news/nyc
