Ironically, this point was actually made by Lynn Enright in The Independent in 2019: 'Using the words vulva and vagina interchangeably isn’t a harmless linguistic quirk: it’s actually a technique for diminishing a woman’s sexual agency.'

Dear The Independent, this article refers to the clitoris as 'the pleasure centre of the vagina.'
I think it's important to remember that the clitoris is considered part of the vulva (the outer female genitalia), not the vagina (the muscular tube that leads to the cervix).

.Rachel E. Gross, author of VAGINA OBSCURA, joined Ali Rogin and Rachel S. Rubin, MD to discuss why women's sexual health has long been understudied—and how that's changing.

Listen to the PBS NewsHour conversation:

“There are a lot of clitorises in the world”—and all of them deserve to be taken seriously, says Rachel S. Rubin, MD.
I’m thrilled we could have this important conversation on a show as trusted as PBS NewsHour.
Thank you PBS for prioritizing female (and human!) health & pleasure:
I have one, half the world has one. I thought I was pretty well-informed about the clitoris. But I still learned a ton about the questions I need to be ready to ask my doctors from this NYT article by Rachel E. Gross

Airing TONIGHT on @newshour. Grateful to be able to discuss such a *sensitive* issue on the air. It’s so important and not discussed nearly enough. You might have seen Rachel E. Gross’ fantastic piece on the clitoris in the NYT last week. This convo picks up where that left off.
The oft-cited claim that there are more than 8,000 #nerveendings in the #clitoris comes from a 1976 book, in reference to a study of cows.
No one had fact-checked that claim in humans -- until now.🧵 #SexMed22
