Translators, one of our own, Khalid from Gaza, who joined us virtually at the action lab at the ALTA conference, is trying to evacuate his family after their home was bombed. I know there are so many fundraisers, but your support would mean a lot.

We are awed by writers like Robin Myers, who have not only withdrawn their work from the 2024 PEN Awards, but are using that platform to fundraise for Palestinian writers like Nadine Murtaja, a 21-year old Gazan poet.

Putting the final touches to my pamphlet before sending it out on submission, by which I mean re-reading it and swinging between 'this is the best thing I have ever written' and 'nobody has ever written anything worse in the history of the world'.

Wish me luck 🥸

Please support small, indie publishers such as Butcher's Dog Publishing , a non-profit magazine run by the poet Dr Jo Clement with nothing but the support of poets and poetry at its core.

For anyone who truly knows what it's like to exist within poetry publishing, there is little (1)

Butcher’s Dog is one of the best print magazines on the UK poetry scene, and Dr Jo Clement is an incredible editor. I am genuinely baffled as to why anyone would choose cynicism over admiration when it comes to the output and workings of such a vital magazine Butcher's Dog Publishing

these 2 poems by the Palestinian poet Ghayath Almadhoun translated by Catherine Cobham are remarkable:

'Massacre is a dead metaphor that comes out of the television and eats my friends without a single pinch of salt.'

We are concerned to see the cancellation of Aye & Wee Write festivals and hope the situation is reviewed.

Leaving Glasgow without a book festival will impact readers of all ages, and those who write for them, with no occasion to celebrate all that books and reading does for us.

Wow. It's such an honour & privilege to have a project chosen to receive this grant, yet I am finding it hard to reconcile these special feelings with the sense that promoting underrepresented voices matters little when institutions that claim this objective [1/]
