I think there are clear moral lines: the parallel is with Allied bombing of Germany: to defeat the Nazis, innocent civilians had to die. Few would argue we should not have responded militarily to Hitler’s regime. It’s the same with Israel and Hamas, horrible though that is.

Yes… it seems front page news today (The Times, BBC etc) is *blaming* Israel for doing Hamas the courtesy of giving its brutalised populace a chance to flee before it attacks ..?
