Grant 4! Tal Korem (@tkorem.bsky.social), Helai Hesham, Noémie Elhadad at Columbia University Can the vaginal microbiome decode endometriosis? This trailblazing group will investigate if changes in the vaginal microbiome can be linked to specific endometriosis subtypes, stages, and symptoms.

Grant 5! Josephine Bowles & Michael Piper Is NFIX the new female-specific master regulator? Previous studies have shown NFIX's role in neural development & spermatogenesis, but no research has been done in the female context. Studying NFIX can aid our grasp of diseases like PCOS/POI!

Couldn't believe I was hearing those magic words 'fast funding for female reproductive science'! We are SO grateful to Fifty Years and Sara Kemppainen! This funding will certainly help us get this exciting project going. UQ Medicine UQ News SRB

Grant 6! norah.fogarty Healthy pregnancy relies on the functioning of the placenta. By generating patient-specific trophoblast stem cells, this research aims to develop better disease models for studying conditions such as preeclampsia which currently have no treatments.

Grant 7! Sam Dowland & Kirsten Shankie-Williams Copper IUD is the only non-hormonal, long-acting contraceptive available today. But they can cause cramping and be painful at insertion. This team is developing a new category of contraceptives using advanced biomedical materials!

We're so excited to be working towards a new non-hormonal contraceptive to minimise side effects. Thank you to Sara and the repro grants team for the support!

Grant 8! PepinLab & Marie Meinsohn Even pre-birth women start losing their eggs. The AMH is the only known hormone to inhibit follicle activation. This team wants to develop drugs that mimic AMH by targeting its receptor (AMHR2) for clinical uses from contraception to aging!

Grant 9! Lucía Chico Sordo at IVI Foundation. Endometriosis is a painful condition affecting 1 in 10 women worldwide. This study will explore a promising relationship between endometriosis and specific miRNAs, with emphasis on the molecular pathways involved.

Grant 11! Emily G. Jacobs & Dr. Caitlin Taylor In the US, ~1.4 million birth control pill users are aged 15-19. Despite their wide usage, little to none is known about their neuronal impact on the developing brain. This neuroimaging study seeks to investigate this link for the first time!
