The neurosurgery NP called my fellow hospitalist about a patient they wanted medical clearance for a VP shunt placement and said “I don’t know what this IIH is.” My colleague said, “I’m thinking it means idiopathic intracranial hypertension which is why she’s getting the shunt?”
