Thanks all. I had to add pymol to an existing conda environment, which didn't work initially. W/ chatgpt's help, I made a simple yml file with channels conda-forge & defaults, & dependencies python=3.10, pymol-open-source, pandas, biopython, tqdm. That worked with conda & mamba.

If I never have to use the AlphaFold3 server again, I will be quite happy. More seeds! More biological ligands! Non-biological ligands! Benchmarking! More science!

I feel quite unworthy as a role model of any kind given my many shortcomings. But I understand that just persisting might be enough sometimes! Today is one of those days. I see you and am inspired by you 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ junior scientists! Keep persevering, it helps all of us.

This is so important, I talked to a 🏳️‍⚧️ student in one of my courses who wanted to know if science could be a safe place for them, since they hadn't met any trans scientists before. Before our conversation, they didn't see science as a place they would be accepted.

Non-🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️colleagues (particularly faculty), what can you do? Acknowledge the presence/work of your 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ colleagues, that they are valued, that you know they must bear a cost to being out and have been trailblazers in ways that help your department. Don’t take them for granted!

When you send your kids to school there is zero chance they will come back to you "a different gender," but there is certainly a chance they won't come back at all. Yet some of y'all are worried about the former while shrugging about the latter.
