Already this week, we've seen encouraging progress on judicial nominations with 3 confirmations, bringing us to 193 for this administration. This is 41 short of the prior administration. We need more weeks like this one to close that gap

Great to see more district confirmations this week, with the potential for more! The Senate needs to continue prioritizing judicial confirmations to clear the backlog of nominees from last year.

Tremendous work from Chairman Durbin and Senate Judiciary advancing all eligible judicial nominees out of committee today. Time to get confirming!

The Senate needs to confirm 70 judges in 2024 to ensure POTUS surpasses the 234 appointed by his predecessor.

Almost regardless of what policy issues a U.S. Senate candidate says are their priority, those issues are directly impacted by the courts. Every candidate should be asked if and how they will prioritize the courts and ensure their caucus does the same.

It's great to see the White House announce such a large, diverse and qualified tranche of judicial nominees. This should put more pressure on the Senate to pick up its pace in confirming judges. The goal must be to confirm at least 70 judges in 12 months.

On this wk's episode, I discuss the challenge before the Senate of confirming 70 judges in 12 months. It's a tall task, but an absolutely doable one, as I explain, if the Senate reprioritizes the courts.

To balance the courts, the Senate needs to ensure that President Biden matches or exceeds Trump's total of 234 judicial appointments in 4 years. This will require the Senate to confirm upwards of 70 judges this year. The Senate can do this if it picks up the pace!

The blue slip will be scrapped for district court vacancies, it's just a question of when. If this Senate majority insists on keeping the blue slip, the GOP will scrap it when it nxt controls the Senate + White House and finds the blue slip to be a hindrance in packing the courts
