From Dr Barry Yates - 'Least Lettuce is still flowering during mornings in early October!' It's the rarest plant Rye Harbour Nature Reserve but very hard to find on the Beach Reserve as its flowers are small and only open in the mornings!

Golden Plover are beginning to return for the winter. As their numbers build, they provide a fantastic spectacle as flocks of up to 3,000 birds roost on the large, open, undisturbed areas of the nature reserve. 📷 Dennis Hunt Sussex Wildlife Trust 🦔
A lucky visitor spotted a Spoonbill using it's spatula-like bill to feed in the shallow water. They are notorious for spending large amounts of time asleep, with their heads tucked frustratingly under a wing - so patience is required! 📷 Sophie-May Lewis Sussex Wildlife Trust 🦔
Leucochloridium paradoxum flatworm lives in Amber Snails Succinea putris & birds, early stages develop in snails, move to the snail eye-stalk pulsate then eaten by bird, develop in it, lay eggs pooped out by bird then poo eaten by snail! RSPB Ham Wall Somerset thanks David Turrell
