it has taken me over an hour just to get from Sepulveda to my LAX terminal

high speed rail on its own isnโ€™t as fast as a plane but once you factor in getting to the airport, going through security, and taxiing, it can end up being much less travel time

I like to call this โ€œabolish bedtime leftismโ€

will destroying parking meters stop any wars? no, it just reduces municipal revenue that goes to important public services and will be a pain to fix for some government employee.

building high quality public transit and walkable communities so that cars are not a necessity is the net equivalent of a massive tax cut for American families

while New York City is the densest place in the country, there is an abundance of beautiful parks all over the city

meanwhile, LA has tons of single family homes but very few public parks

if anything, more housing density means we can preserve more open space for parks

still thinking about how the UK built tunnels for high speed rail going through rural fields for no reason other than the fact that a few random NIMBYs thought trains look ugly

almost every time I feel unsafe in New York City itโ€™s not because of crime on the subways, but reckless drivers

this killer driver had 5 school zone speed violations and should have had his car impounded long ago

I am increasingly of the opinion that the environmentalist movement's opposition to modernizing environmental laws for climate change and the housing crisis is an existential issue for Californians. This week I am extremely worried this problem can't be solved. ๐Ÿงต

just your daily reminder that building walkable cities with good public transport is an extremely powerful anti-inflationary policy

itโ€™s fascinating how we have so normalized the housing shortage that many people view living in New York as some sort of luxury

I think we should build so much housing that rents go down and anyone who wants to can easily live in New York
